“Clean” Virada Cultural collects 300 tons of waste

Four million people participated at the Virada Cultural last weekend, a successful event promoted by the Sao Paulo City Hall and that offers 24 hours of nonstop cultural attractions

According to the City Hall, from last Saturday afternoon to Monday morning, 300 tons of waste were collected, among which 10 tons were recyclable material. From this total, 190 tons were collected by the cleaning team and the rest were collected by vendors.

More than 3,000 people worked last weekend, using 40 containers, 299 trucks and equipments. The civil society was also targeted by the campaign through educational banners fixed in 155 food vendors and radio messages between attractions.

A total of 4,900 garbage disposables were installed. The whole operation used 40 containers with capacity of 1,200 liters, 238 trucks, and 22 collectors.
