The videoconference sought to strengthen the bond with the institution for future partnerships

Last Wednesday (23), the Municipal Secretary for International Relations, Marta Suplicy, participated in the virtual meeting with Claudia Prates, Director General of the Regional Office for the Americas of the New Development Bank (NBD). The videoconference sought to strengthen the link with the NDB for future partnerships and funding possibilities for projects in the municipality. The meeting was accompanied by the Deputy Secretary for International Relations, Ambassador Débora Barenboim-Salej, and the Senior Professional of the NDB's Regional Office for the Americas, Marcos Thadeu.

During the meeting, Secretary Marta presented some projects that the current administration has as objectives in the city, such as small works by sub-prefectures and the project for basic sanitation in the south of São Paulo. Suplicy also commented on the expectation of transforming the Jockey Club into a hub of the creative economy, innovation, and technology and the possibility of developing ecotourism in the extreme south of the capital.

NDB representatives highlighted that the institution can support innovation and technology projects in cities and countries, the Bank's focus is infrastructure (gray, social, and green). According to Thadeu, the Bank's current mandate seeks to act on all the issues highlighted by Secretary Marta, in addition to themes converging with the climate agendas that São Paulo has been working on for some time.

From this meeting, the City Hall of São Paulo, through the Municipal Secretariat for International Relations, will forward to the NBD the projects ready for evaluation and will have a new work meeting in mid-July for alignment.
