São Paulo City Hall participates in the International Association of Educating Cities’ event

The project Jornada Cidade Brincável approaches cities' initiatives to transform their public spaces into more receptive areas to children

The Coordinator of the Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure (SEME), Fábio Rodrigo Brandão, participated in the Jornada Cidade Brincável, organized by the International Association of Educating Cities (IAEC) last Tuesday (01). The event was held virtually and occurred in the context of World Play Day, celebrated on May 28th.

The meeting gathered representatives of the cities of Barcelona (Spain), Paris (France) and London (United Kingdom), who shared experiences to turn cities into open spaces for children, ir order to transform the urban environment in a scenario that leads the age group in consideration and creat public areas for them to play and interact with each other.

During the event, the Coordinator Fábio Rodrigo Brandão presented the project Ruas de Lazer (Streets of Leisure), an initiative of the Department present in the municipality for over 40 years. The proposal aims to offer the population the opportunity to organize, perform and enjoy leisure and recreation activities on the streets of São Paulo, transforming them into coexistence environments. Currently, the action is managed by the Department of Management of Sports and Leisure Policies and Programs (DGPE).
