São Paulo participates on the XXV Summit of the Mercocities Network

Held virtually, the event also enabled the exchange of local experiences to combat the pandemic

The city of São Paulo participated in the XXV Summit of the Mercocities Network, on April 28th and 29th. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting was held virtually, with the motto of the Presidency of Tandi (Argentina), "Associated Management for development".

The Summit is the main event of the Mercocities Network and, also, has seminars organized by Thematic Unities, the annual meeting of the Directing Council and the General Assembly of Mercocities. Besides São Paulo, which has also been a member of the Mercocities Council since 2019, other 360 cities of South America are also members of the network - to check all of them, click here.

The opening was conducted by the Secretary of Productive Development and International Relations of Tandil and Deputy-Secretary of the Mercocities, Marcela Petrantonio. Also joined the Intendant of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse, and the Intendant of tandil and President of the network, Miguel Lungui. The Chief of Staff of the Municipal Secretariat of International Relations, Soninha Francine, represented the capital of São Paulo at the Assembly.

During the Summit, compromise agreements were signed between the Mercocities Network and local governments in the region, which will have access to financing for the implementation of south-south cooperation projects. Among them, the project "Reduction of Inequalities Focused on Integrating Territory Perspectives, Gender and Race/Ethnicity in Public Policies", coordinated by São Paulo City Hall.
