São Paulo participates in an international webinar about human mobility and inclusion

Through the articulation of the City Hall's international team, a representative of the capital of São Paulo participated in a panel on inclusive cities

Last Thursday (18), the Policy Coordinator for Immigrants and Promotion of Decent Work, Vinicius Duque, represented the city of São Paulo in the webinar "Avanzando hacia ciudades incluyentes: Una aproximación a la movilidad humana desde los governos locales de América Latina y el Caribe”. The online event was organized by the UNESCO Latin American and Caribbean Coalition of Cities against Racism, Discrimination, and Xenophobia and by the government of Mexico City. The participation of the São Paulo representative was articulated by the Municipal Secretariat of International Relations.

To recognize human mobility as an opportunity for the cities, the meeting was guided by the inclusion of immigrant people, asylum seekers, refugees, and internally displaced people in society and the host territory. During the webinar, Coordinator Vinicius Duque participated in a panel about inclusive cities. The Policy Coordination for Immigrants and Promotion of Decent Work is an organ linked to the Municipal Secretariat of Human Rights and Citizenship, responsible for the articulations of migratory public policies in the municipality.

The activity was held in celebration to the International Day for Racial Discrimination, on March 21st. Furthermore, the webinar also marked the launch of the document “Movilidad humana y Covid-19: Una aproximación a la respuesta de los gobiernos locales de América Latina y el Caribe”, that counts with mentions to the good practices of São Paulo.
