Municipal Secretariat for International Affairs participates in the launch of Parliamentary Caucus Against Hunger

Initiative seeks to join forces to fight hunger during the pandemic

The Municipal Secretariat of International Affairs participated in the launch of Parliamentary Caucus Against Hunger, this Thursday afternoon (25). Broadcasted by the Municipality of São Paulo's social media, the online event was attended by the Municipal Secretary for International Affairs, Marta Suplicy, and the Chief of Staff, Soninha Francine, besides the Municipal Secretary of Assistance and Social Development, Berenice Giannella, the Deputy-Secretary of Human Rights and Citizenship, Juliana Armede, and the Municipal Secretary of Economic Development, Labor and Tourism, Aline Cardoso.

The Parliamentary Caucus Against Hunger is a result of initiatives from the councillors Janaína Lima and Cris Monteiro (Novo party) and counts amongst its members councillors from different parties, many of them present at today's event. Vice-Mayor Ricardo Nunes and many representatives of civil society also attended the meeting.
The initiative seeks to develop studies on hunger in the municipality, create a plan of action to ensure adequate food to all citizens of São Paulo and reduce the waste of food. In her speech, Chief of Staff Soninha Francine pointed out that the Municipal Secretariat for International Affairs has been seeking to form partnerships in order to reduce the impacts of the pandemic in the city of São Paulo. Secretary Marta Suplicy highlighted the importance of mobilization to fight hunger and reinforced our commitment to the SP Cidade Solidária program.
