According to a study made by the global network KPMG and by the French agency Paris-Île de France Capital Économique, São Paulo was the 4th most targeted city by foreign investors in 2011, in an analysis that took in consideration 22 of the most important global cities. São Paulo has advanced three positions in 2011, being currently ahead of New York, Paris, Moscow and Beijing. The city is only behind London, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The study also pointed to the increase of 55% of foreign investments in relation to 2010 and a leap of 160% in comparison to 2009. Even more impressive is the fact that foreign investments in São Paulo have quadrupled between 2006 and 2011, which demonstrates the economic dynamism of the city.
The analysis remarks that 43% of the foreign investments were made in strategic functions such as creations of headquarters, research centers, marketing, design and services to consumers.
