São Paulo holds an international workshop on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in local governments

Activity is a part of the UCCI Integral Cooperation Project on strategies for implementing the UN's Sustainable Development Goals at local governments

The city of São Paulo held the first workshop of the Integral Cooperation Project - Strategy to monitor and evaluate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Local Governments, of the Union of Ibero-American Cities and Capitals (UCCI) network, this Thursday (29). The meeting also counted with the participation of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Mexico City (Mexico) and had the objective to present the Voluntary Local Reviews (VLR) from each municipality for the exchange of experiences on the United Nations' 2030 Agenda.

During the workshop, the city of São Paulo was in charge to present the executive summary and focused on four different aspects: information management - motivations for the prioritizations presented on the review; data sources and indicators' selection; VLR communication strategy for different audiences; and the challenges for the conception of the next reviews. The workshop also provided a moment for the representatives to share the challenges of each city in the local implementation of the SDG.

The UCCI Integral Cooperation Project, which has the participation of São Paulo (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina), and Mexico City (Mexico), seeks to strengthen the cooperation between Ibero-American cities through the exchange of experiences on the strategies of local governments, through monitoring and evaluating the lessons learned in the scenario of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Therefore, workshops will be held to build a dialogue between the participating municipalities on these goals and their monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, with perspectives of gender, race, and age so there can be greater inclusion, accessibility, equity, and diversity.
