The MigraCidades platform is an initiative to recognize migration policies both in Brazilian states and cities and is the result of a partnership between the International Organization for Migrations (OIM), an agency of the United Nations (UN), and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. This project also contributes to the formulation and management of these policies in a way. It is aligned with the 10th goal of UN Sustainable Development Goals, "Reducing inequality within and between countries".

The action proposes a certification process, to implement tools that allow local government to analyze the scope of their public policies aimed at the subject. It also makes it possible to expand the dialogue on migration, exchange of experiences, and good practices. During the last year, São Paulo was contemplated with the MigraCidades Certification due to the policies implemented in the city.
