Secretary of the International Bureau of Expositions will visit Brazil in May
The general secretary of the IBE, International Bureau of Expositions, Vicente Loscertales, confirmed his visit to São Paulo, from the 21st to the 24th of May, to pay a official technical visit to the city and follow São Paulo’s efforts on the run to host the EXPO 2020, Universal Exposition. In the election that will take place in Paris, in November 2013, São Paulo will run against Ekaterimburgo (Russia), Izmir (Turkey), Dubai (Arab Emirates) and Ayulthaya (Thailand).
The IBE has its headquarters in Paris, and was created in 1928, by an international diplomatic convention. The organization has 160 country members, and it regulates, organizes the frequency and assures the quality of the Universal Expositions, in addition to coordinating the elections for host-countries.
The Secretary of the IBE has the obligation to visit and analyze technically all of the running cities, and São Paulo will have a very intense agenda, which will include a visit to the place where the EXPO 2020 complex will be built, in Pirituba, a meeting with the Mayor and the participation in meetings about the event.
In its campaign, São Paulo City Hall presented as a main argument the growing Human Development Index and quality of life of São Paulo’s citizens, a result of innovative and sustainable public policies created in order to diminish social inequalities.
