Traffic light system

In a pioneer project in Brazil, São Paulo is currently receiving studies for a public-private partnership for the city’s 6,399 traffic lights and 500 km of data transmission ducts. With the objective of implementing new technological updates, the project will lower City Hall’s expenses with the maintenance of the system and allow rerouting the funds to priority areas.

The concessionaire will have the responsibility of maintaining and updating the system, while the control of the traffic light system will be maintained in City Hall’s responsibility. The technological updates are expected to include an extension of the system, with traffic lights connected to a real time or a fixed platform which will allow a greater flexibility in traffic management and better flux for the vehicles.
